Messiah
Born and raised in the north end of Hartford, CT,
life was far from easy for Messiah. At the tender
age of six, the state of Connecticut took custody
and placed him in a foster home in the Chappelle
Projects, directly across the street from the
notorious Stowe Village Projects. For the next 8
years, Messiah would be dead smack in the middle of
a community that could turn almost any child into a
heartless “gangsta.” “All I remember growing up and
seeing is drugs, guns, gangs, fights, and
prostitutes. Some of my friends’ mothers was selling
ass to buy crack." (Messiah)
At
the age of 14, Messiah left state custody and
returned home to his mother who lived in the
infamous building, 48 Huntington St. This was the
same street where Messiah had lived for the first
six years of his life. Huntington St. had always
been considered home to Messiah; it’s also where he
spent weekends visiting his mother so, returning
home was not a problem.
Messiah was profoundly impacted by two
neighborhoods, “Hollywood” (Chappelle Projects) and
“Huntzone” (Huntington St). Both neighborhoods had a
powerful affect on Messiah’s rap skillz because both
neighborhoods were so deeply influenced by Hip Hop
and RnB music. At the age of seven, Messiah wrote
his first rhyme and now, at the age of 27, he has
the rep of being one of the best emcees in
Connecticut, possibly on the whole east coast.
Most people have compared Messiah’s swagger to an east coast version of
Young Jeezy because, in the neighborhood, he is
known as a hustler/business man. But, it just so
happens, this hustler can rap his ass off. In
his past life, he’s been beat up by the Hartford
police, harassed by detectives, and caught his
first drug case with the D.E.A. He has promoted
numerous hip hop shows, owned two barber shops,
one beauty salon and dropped over fifty of his
own mix tapes with the help of DJ whoo
KID-(G-unit). He is currently working on his
album which is being produced by multi-platinum
producer DAMEGREASE. It won’t be long before the
whole world recognizes the name, Messiah.
